Melina Marchetta's writing was improved. In Finnikin, the whole book was really quite condensed and sometimes hard to follow, in Froi, it was big and stretched out and while that was awesome, sometimes some details gets to be a bore. But Quintana of Charyn, oh my dear god, it was perfect. I just wish it didn't have to end. It was so compelling and I adored every single POV.
It focuses on Froi and Quintana, Finnikin and Isaboe, and Lucian and Phaedra and in Froi, I'd often just wanted to get back to my favourite characters and skip Lucian and Phaedra parts but this time, I didn't want to leave them. I didn't want to leave anyone!
In terms of the plot, it took a while for Froi to get anywhere but that was fine because I found out everything about Quintana quite early in the book. Gargarin and Lirah and Arjuro were, once again, amazing and entertaining and I loved the relationship between those three and Froi.
So the characters were amazing and funny and lovable and the plot was intriguing and compelling and beautiful. I LOVED the epilogue. It's the sort of ending I want at the end of all my favourite series. And yes, it's happy. ;)
Melina Marchetta is one of my favourite because she wrote one of my favourite series. I wish it didn't have to end. That makes me sad.
